I always get people telling me how easy I make motherhood look, and than they ask how I manage to look so put together all the time? Let me tell you that it is all an illusion, because motherhood definitely does not feel that way.
I wish I was able to wake up before Penelope every morning but I just cant seem to get up before her 6:30 wakeup call or poke. So instead I get up with her to get her changed, dressed and fed because baby comes first. Than while she is eating or if I can distract her with a toy while she plays in the bathroom, I will get myself ready.
Over the past year of motherhood I really learned to cut down on the amount of products I use everyday because who honestly has time for all that extra stuff. That’s why I always start with a freshly washed face, and than I spray Caudalie Beauty Elixir and apply OUAI’s Rose Oil to my dried skin (it smells amazing!) and any left over I put on the ends of my hair because I don’t want to waste any of this amazing oil.
The next step is to conceal. I’ve been using Bareminerals Bareskin Concealer because it is very hydrating and stays all day, so I don’t have to worry about looking cakey. Oh and don’t forget to pat on a little translucent powder like Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose setting powder around your nose, chin and t-zone so you look glowy and not oily.
Next, I curl my lashes for a few seconds before I put on two to three coats of Benefits Badgal BANG! volumizing mascara or my other favourite the Too Faced Better than sex mascara. Those are the only two I use because I have small little lashes that are basically non-existent and these two mascaras have the best bristles.
This step is the most IMPORTANT for looking put together in my opinion and I never skip out on these two things, which is bronzer and eyebrows. The bronzer I use is Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer and the eyebrow pencil I love but ran out of is Benefit’s Precisely, My Brow Pencil Ultra Fine, my brow pencil. Since running I picked up the – from
Last but not least your lips. Every one who wears makeup needs to get the Charolette Tilbury , It is really popular for a reason. Finally I add Armani Beauty A-Line Liquid Blush which I use for my cheeks by putting a dot of the liquid blush on my finger tips and press it into my cheeks. Sometimes I will add it to my lips too or just line them with Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat pencil in “Pillow Talk”. This pulls the whole look together and looks light enough to wear everyday, and I pretty much do.
Saving all that time and looking like you spend an hour getting ready in the morning is the name of the game when your a mom, and self care is essential at this point in our lives.
Than if all else fails, wear a hat! 😉0
