Every once and a while I get a message from a reader asking about my camera equipment for blogging and instagram. I wrote a previous post about Blogging Books, if you’re looking for for blogging basics.
Being a tech nerd and I’ve always had a love of camera’s, so its not surprising that I have several of them. I will always recommend starting with a DSLR, I use the Canon T7i with a 50mm lens to shoot everything from editorial content to candid photos.
The Canon G7X Mark 2 is my go-to for travelling, not only is it small and produces high quality photos but it’s perfect for making videos too! Its like that it’s an all in one camera and perfect if you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg while still getting the quality you need.
The iPhone is my number one camera! because I never leave home without it and in the last few years the camera quality has been incredible! This iPhone 8 plus was a recent purchase and I am still very much obsessed with it. I will probably have this one for the next few years as I really have no need to upgrade.
Lets just say I am a huge fan of Apple and pretty much use all their products. My lap top is the MacBook Air because I wanted something big enough to use as my main computer but still small enough to through into my purse on the go.
Since you can pretty much use your phone for just about everything now a days, I wanted to share the apps I use to blog on the go.
As business grows so does my need for a planner. I use it every single day and mark out my entire month with it. I like the larger agenda’s for the extra writing space, like this one from called the Simplified Planner.
A notebook is essential for everything I do, and I carry mine everywhere. It serves its purpose as a brain dump for blogging and instagram, and carries all my plans for future posts, and even to-do lists for my work.
I’ve only recently realized how important a quality tripod is to a blogger, not only for taking photos of yourself but also videos! When I first started blogging I thought I could use a cheaper tripod and save money, but as my blogging career grew so did my need to take pictures on my own and having a steady tripod became essential.
Plans for Upgrades
As any field of work I am aware of the constant upgrades and changes in technology. I promised myself that I would wait to invest in a larger DSLR until I was hitting a certain income from my blog.
The next camera upgrade will be the Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 with the Sigma Art 35mm lens.
