I shared this Easy DIY Basket Light Fixture almost a year ago, and so much has changed in our home since then. Originally I wanted the basket light to fit with our boho sheek bedroom. But as time went on and we figured out a style we loved for our home and also for our bedroom. So I ended up moving the fixture to my office which fits with my decor way more than our European Farmhouse bedroom.
My inspiration for the DIY Basket Light Fixture was this beautiful pendant light from Serena and Lily. But as I’m sure you know they are expensive and I just didn’t want to invest in a new light right now. So that’s how this DIY was born.
The materials are very simple, you will want to find something that goes with your style and vibe.

The first thing you should do is find the middle of the basket, where the cord from the light will go through.
Once you found the middle, drill a hole very carefully. Ensure it is big enough to fit the cord through but not overly big so it doesn’t sit weirdly.
Put the light fixture together, as it comes in pieces and you will need to follow the instructions to set it up.
Choose the height you want your new light to be, and how low you want it to hang.
Once you have the logistics figured out its time to put everything together.
If you don’t have experience installing lights than seek a professional. It was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be, but I still wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly.
This was a very simple DIY basket light to make that updated the mood and created a conversational piece that everyone is sure to ask about. Adding a new light can update a room at a very low cost, and knowing the right light bulb will also create a space that is either relaxing or energizing. Below is an easy guide to choosing the right light for your space.
