Hey loves! As the weather is starting to finally get warmer, I am searching for more outdoor activities to do with Penelope and thought I would let you know that Wayfair is having a Victoria Day Clearance Sale! and I have already ordered a few things:
I always get a lot of questions about what books and toys we have for Penelope? So I decided to make this a regular thing and share her favourites every month. If you didn’t know I was a former Early Childhood Educator, and a lot of my teachings have trickled into my parenting style. I love incorporating learning at every opportunity and I really love play-based learning. I find that style of learning fits well at for her right now since she is only 15 months and still developing a lot of skills.

Water Table This is the one thing that she has really enjoyed now that the weather has gotten warmer and we can spend more time outdoors. Plus I found her water table on Amazon for under $40! and it’s a double-basin that can be used for sand and water. I have seen water tables range anywhere from $25 to $300, depending on the style and size. I just wanted something small and easy to clean that could be taken apart and put away when needed.
Play-dough: At one year of age its nearly impossible to know that your chid won’t be putting play dough in their mouth and eating it, but I found the solution to your child consuming things that just aren’t good for them. I found Wunderdough on etsy and it’s an all natural play dough, Non-GMO and that has Plant Based Colours and you can find it here (and its a small shop on Etsy!).
Books have always been an important part of my life and in Penelope’s as well. Reading books develop critical thinking skills in children and can help strengthen the emotional bond between parent and child. I will always encourage reading to children, and even at this young age Penelope still loves picking books to read.
Moo – Every single night before bed she is asked to get a book to read, and every single night it’s the same one. She loves the book called “Moo” and even calls it her “Moo Book”. It has the reader say animal noises and even has moving parts that you open or push to make sounds. It is very interactive and helps children develop their vocabulary and their sense of touch by feeling the animals.
Baby Shark – My mom got this one for Penelope and she LOVES it. This is more of a day time read and gets us moving in the morning. Penelope knows this and wakes us up by getting the “Do-do” out and handing it to us to read. Not to mention she also listens to Baby Shark 1000x a day!
As for Penelope’s absolute favourite snacks, we always choose Organics food that is healthy, which means I spend a lot of time researching products and understanding what ingredients are included in her snacks.
Annie’s Homegrown White Cheddar Bunnies – This is a brand we always go back to, and I cannot stop snacking on. Seriously, if you watched my stories the other day you would have seen that I felt so guilty for eating all of P’s Snickerdoodle Bunnie’s because I just couldn’t stop “it’s that good!”.
I know technology is a very controversial topic, and whether the decision to let your child use it will be detrimental to their development is questionable. And this is a topic I am going to write a about in an upcoming post.
We have an iPad that we let her have under 30 minutes on every other day, or when we are driving somewhere she will watch shows that I choose for her in the back just to make the car ride more enjoyable for us all. I use Netflix and pick out several movies before we leave because they disappear 48 hours after she finishes them and I have to re-add them. Or I like downloading her shows like Peppa Pig and The Wiggles of YouTube because I purchased the premium service, but the shows will always be downloaded as long as your membership is up to date.
I also love Tiny Tap because of the amount of educational games that were all made by teachers! It is very easy to use and with toddler friendly content.
